S.W.A.T. Exiles Theme Demos
Here is a theme demo I created after reading the pilot script. It honors the funk tradition of the original 70s SWAT theme in a fresh, fun way. It features:
Acoustic instruments (acoustic bass, horn section, acoustic guitars, acoustic drums, and hand claps) representing Gen Zās energy and authenticity. Even the classic SWAT melody is played on steel and nylon stringed guitars giving it a cool and unexpected vibe.
The iconic West coast G-Funk whistle lead plays counter melodies representing Hondo and the old guard.
Latin percussion breaks and grooves are seamlessly mixed in to enhance that eclectic LA vibe.
Additional concept from our Zoom meeting:
Dark, gritty effects processing is added to and subtracted from some of the acoustic sounds when needed, adding more tension and vibe.
The Latin timbale drums and the acoustic bass have gritty processing and delays that come and go, creating an interesting, evolving effect featured mostly in the breaks. This idea could be taken further, and added to other instruments if desired.
Here is that same theme demo without the effects so you can clearly hear the difference.
